Sinenta Corp commercializes its first varieties of cotton seeds

Once the trials have been completed, they developed during the 2021 campaign of crops in different locations, Sinenta Corp presents to the Middle East market three varieties of cotton adapted to the agroclimatic conditions of this region.

In the crop trials that have been carried out during the last season, twelve varieties of seeds from Europe have been evaluated against the three leading varieties in the market in each of the locations of the region, to compare aspects such as productivity and quality of the fiber obtained and the tolerance or resistance to different biotic and abiotic stresses.

Another of the characteristics that have been most important when establishing the materials to be commercialized has been to identify those varieties that best adapt to the mechanization of this crop.

We must support the cotton industries, both textile and agricultural, so that they have high quality products that make them more efficient and profitable

Kaveh Izadshenas, CEO of Sinenta Corp

Within the works of improvement and selection of the materials, it has also been taken into account to identify and introduce the greatest tolerances to those abiotic and biotic factors that affect the cultivation of cotton; For this reason, one of the most determined bets has been to achieve new interspecific varieties that combine the best of the Hirsutum and Barbadense genetics.

If we want to develop agriculture that is more sustainable and aligned with the SDGs of the UN 2030 Agenda, it is essential that farmers have varieties so that they adapt to agroclimatic conditions of the place where they develop their activity as that they allow a management of their crop with a high efficiency by a precise consumption of fertilizers and phytosanitary, and because they can be mechanized

Ángel Leo-Revilla, COO of Sinenta Corp

The three varieties will be marketed through the SFI Genetics brand, with the following names and differential characteristics

MERLÍN

Premium cotton variety with a great length and resistance fiber.

Great variety for early and late planting

Retention of cotton in capsules, which prevents its fall during harvesting and adverse weather conditions. Its plants are very resilient to different stress situations. Produce a great fiber length with high fruiting and production, and excellent quality bonus on the standard with a very good turnout of fiber (~41% in the lab).

GINEBRA F1

Inter-specific hybrid cotton variety with very fine fiber.

Good variety for mechanical harvest

Variety of very early crop cycle (140~145 days) and high yield. Conical plant of medium height (~90 cm) with bigger leaf okra type. Its crops has an optimal population density 75.000 to 100.000 plants per hectare. This variety is tolerant to Fusarium wild, Verticillium daliae, Heliothis armigera, and water-stress. Its fiber has ELS (Extra Long Staple) quality.

MORGANA F1

Inter-specific hybrid cotton variety with medium-short cycle.

Exclusive variety with high production

Variety of early crop cycle (145~155 days) and high yield. Conical plant of medium height (~100 cm) with bigger leaf okra type. Its crops has an optimal population density 75.000 to 100.000 plants per hectare. This variety is tolerant to Altemaria, Verticillium daliae, Heliothis armigera, and water-stress. Its fiber has ELS (Extra Long Staple) quality and GTO of 39%
